Hello my name is Teresa Vitelli. This will be 25th year teaching. I've taught kindergarten all 25 years. For as long as I can remember all I wanted to be was a teacher. Kindergarten is the best place to spend my days. I attended Cal State Fullerton and received my BA then attended National University for my credential and MA.
I live locally so you might run into me at the grocery store, movies, church, the park or just around town. It is never an inconvenience for you to stop and chat with me. That is one of the things I love most about living in the community.
I have an amazing family who live locally. We love to have Sunday dinners and backyard BBQ's. I was fortunate enough to be a mom for 22 years to my amazing son Jerry. We loved watching the New York Rangers hockey and the New York Jets play football. Jerry was a product of Sierra Vista, Tuffree and El Dorado. He was a pretty amazing kiddo. I talk about him often. He passed 5/14/15. You may hear your children speak of Jerry. I love to share about him.
When I am not at school, you will find me at the beach with Ranger the largest Labradoodle, walking him at the park, hanging out with friends, cooking, and traveling.
We are a team in the journey called school and I welcome your e-mails, phone calls and face to face conversation regarding your child. I look forward to working with you to make this the most unbelievable year full of learning, friendship and tons of fun! Kindergarten is the most magical year.
My name is Jamie Grijalva. I have been teaching at Brookhaven for 26 years. I taught 3rd grade, a 2/3 combination class, and 2nd grade for 14 years, and have been teaching kindergarten for 11 years. I got my BA from UC Riverside in 1993, my teaching credential from Chapman University in 1994, and my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National University in 2000. I LOVE being a teacher! It is the best job in the world!
When I am not teaching, I am a mom and a wife. I have been married to my husband, Joey, for 20 years. I have two beautiful and wonderful daughters! Both of my girls are former Brookhaven Bears! Gabby is 16 and a junior at El Dorado High School. Gabby is a dancer and loves singing and acting in musical theater. Maggie is 13 and an 8th grader at Tuffree Middle School. Maggie plays ice hockey for the Lady Ducks, and is a goalie for her 14AAA hockey team. She also loves singing and musical theater. As you can see, we have a busy family life, but we love it!
I live locally and you will probably see me at Trader Joe's, Target, the grocery store, the mall, at the gym early in the morning, or walking my dog, Perry. Please say hi! It is one of the things I love about living and working in the Brookhaven community!
One last thing you will learn about me is that I LOVE hockey! It is the sport that my entire family loves. We are HUGE Ducks fans! Your kiddo may start talking hockey this year, so don't be surprised when they do!
I am so excited for this year. As always, please reach out to me if you ever have questions or concerns. We are in this journey together. You are your child's first teacher, but it is my responsibility this year to get them ready for first grade. I look forward to working with you and your child this year.
